This brand new program is designed just for kids who want to ADVENTURE ALL YEAR long! We will meet once each month during the school year to go Stand-Up Paddle Boarding (SUP), rock climbing, indoor skydiving, and surfing (to name just a few), all while working on self-confidence, problem-solving skills, and HAVING A BLAST. Meeting times will vary, as we'll take advantage of a number of Early Release Days. NO experience is necessary for any activity, and ALL gear and instruction will be provided!

5th Grade Fall Climbing Club
Our newly-extended fall rock climbing club will help climbers of all abilities (including first-timers!) grow into more seasoned climbers. Designed to build skills and self-confidence, we will our top rope walls and MetroRock North’s intensely fun and tempting routes in Newburyport and will become comfortable with harnesses and tying the relevant knots. All skill levels are welcome, and all gear and instruction are provided.
Wednesdays October 4 until 5:15 and October 11 until 6:00.
For two weeks after school, we will hop on our bikes and explore some of the awesome trails that are right here in Portsmouth. We may cruise through Odiorne State Park, bomb around the Urban Forestry Center, or see what other spots strike our fancy, but, no matter where we are, we will discuss basic mountain biking technique and etiquette and work on building our sense of place and self-confidence. Open to anyone comfortable riding a bike, and all instruction and equipment are provided (but feel free to bring your own bike, if you want!).

Portsmouth Middle School Winter Climbing Club
Our popular fall rock climbing club has moved to the winter to help everyone (including first-timers!) stay active and have fun all year-round. Designed to build skills and self-confidence, we will tackle Dover Indoor Ascent’s vast top-roping walls and bouldering room and MetroRock North’s intensely fun and tempting routes in Newburyport (among other locations), and everyone will become comfortable with harnesses and tying the relevant knots. All skill levels are welcome, and all gear and instruction are provided.

Ski/Snowboard Waxing Party
Join us for a fun day prepping for the upcoming winter! We will provide some hot chocolate and snacks (as well as the wax, irons, scrapers, etc), and you bring your alpine skis or snowboards to learn how to get them all waxed up for fun in the snow all winter long! Everyone will walk away with their pair of skis or snowboard all waxed up and ready to go!

Snorkeling in the Florida Keys for 8th Graders
New Heights' Adventure Program has long offered life-changing, school-year expeditions for high schoolers, and now we have created an opportunity just for 8th Graders! On this 4-night, 5-day trip to the Florida Keys, we will escape the heart of the New England for some serious beach time. The Keys are a coral cay archipelago (cool!!), and we will travel through them camping, snorkeling, looking for manatees and dolphins, watching world class sunsets, learning about their amazing ecosystems, and doing some serious bonding.

Cooperative Middle School Climbing Club
Join us as we climb high on the New Heights rock climbing wall and explore the extensive options at a local climbing gym. We’ll spend a few days conquering our fear of heights, building self-confidence, learning knot-tying skills, and just having fun! Seasoned climbers, as well as those brand new to the vertical challenge, are welcome to climb with us. All gear and instruction are provided.

High School Utah April Break Trip
During this camping trip to the magical southwest desert, high school students will hike the orange rock fins of Arches National Park, gaze into the depths of the canyon at Dead Horse State Park, and whitewater raft the amazing Colorado River! Course fee includes every expense, including flights, food, camping and park fees, as well as all gear and instruction. No experience necessary.
4/17, 4/19, 4/20 afterschool prep days. Trip is 6 days during NH April vacation.
Ever watch Naked and Afraid? We will be neither of those things as we learn basic survival skills, focusing on how to build different types of shelters from found natural materials. Come ready for fun and dress to get dirty, as these are hands-on learning experiences!
Tuesdays 5/8 & 5/15 until 5:00pm
In this new offering, we will take to the water to explore the local coastline from a different perspective. Regardless of experience level, this is a great way to comfortable with paddling a kayak and have some fun after school. No experience is necessary, and all gear and instruction will be provided.
